SiMaSeed was officially launched with the kick off meeting on 8th May 2018 in Catania. The event was organized by the lead partner (University of Catania) and hosted in the Botanical Garden of the University of Catania.
Numerous researchers from other universities, research centres, as well as students and representatives of public administrations, including managers of protected areas, participated in the event.
During the meeting, the project partners presented their institutions and illustrated their role within the partnership. Prof. Cristaudo, Scientific Director, illustrated the project mission, objectives, actions and the expected results.
All the interventions created an interesting debate on the role of the University in environmental education, in the conservation and protection of biodiversity and on the contribution of the SiMaSeed project, within the INTERREG Cooperation Program, to the achievement of the objectives and actions of the EU strategy on conservation of biodiversity.
