The fourth conference of the Society of Island Biology (SIB) took place in Lipari from 2 to 7 July 2023, organized by the Society of Island Biology (SIB) and by the Nesos Association, as the local organizing committee.
The SIB is an international scientific society that promotes knowledge and scientific research relating to all aspects of island biology. It brings together scientists from all over the world, united by an interest in the study of island populations, species, communities and ecosystems, promoting their cooperation.
The conference offered researchers from the Germplasm Bank of the University of Catania the opportunity to present the nature conservation projects underway on the Aeolian Islands to an international audience. In this context, with a report entitled “Plant conservation in the Aeolian Islands: bringing species back from the brink of extinction”, the actions underway in Lisca Bianca for the conservation of Anthemis aeolica were illustrated, as part of the SiMaSeed Project PLUS.
